Journal for Substance Use Assessment

  Welcome to AODAssess.com
AODAssess.com is the online home of the Center for Addictions Research and Evaluation (CARE). CARE is a Colorado non-profit corporation established 1974 and has focused on the research and development of self-report psychometric-based instruments for the assessment of alcohol and other drug use and abuse and related psychosocial problems and conditions for both adolescent and adult populations. CARE offers two assessment instruments for adolescents: The Substance Use Survey (SUS), which is a differential initial assessment and screening instrument; and the Adolescent Self-Assessment Profile II (ASAP II), which is an in-depth, comprehensive assessment for adolescents. The SUS is available only in paper-pencil format and the ASAP II is available in both paper-pencil format and in an automated software solution.

CARE offers two differential initial assessment and screening instruments for adults: The Adult Substance Use Survey – Revised (ASUS-R); and the Adult Substance Use and Driving Survey - Revised (ASUDS-R). Both are available in paper-pencil format and in an automated software solution. Also available are two in-depth and comprehensive assessment instruments: The Adult Self-Assessment Profile (AdSAP/RAPS); and the Alcohol Use Inventory (AUI). The AdSAP/RAPS and the AUI are currently available only in paper-pencil format.

The CARE Online Journal, Journal of Substance Use Assessment, will post both professional and scientific articles related to the assessment of alcohol and other drug (AOD) use patterns and problems and conditions related to AOD use and abuse. This will be open to the authors of the CARE instruments, to CARE consultants, and to outside authors on a limited basis. Not all articles posted in the Journal are refereed or peer reviewed. Those that are will be indicated as such.

A special focus of these instruments has been in the area of evaluating clients being processed through juvenile and adult judicial systems and in general clinical settings. For more detailed information about each of these instruments, please access the respective links on the Site Navigation Menu.

CARE provides cost effective programs for agencies and qualified users whose user needs vary from those doing a few assessments a month to those administering several thousand assessments per year. For inquiry with respect to interest in these instruments, please go to the “contact us” link in the Site Navigation Menu and submit the contact form. Thank you for visiting our site.
